People stand by the railing as the Ocean Viking heads out into the open sea. Operated by the NGO SOS Méditerranée, the ship has rescued nearly 40,000 people since 2016. The film offers a quiet and discreet look at the daily routines on board. Jean-Baptiste Bonnet spent several weeks with the crew, becoming part of this microcosm. When 92 people are rescued, intense human connections begin to form. Though time and space for these encounters are limited, the relationships are deep. Once the ship docks, the shared time ends, and the rescued are released into an uncertain future. (Sita Scherer)
