CN: Thematization of violence; thematization of suicide
The world seems to be flooded by images and yet so many are missing. They were forgotten, forbidden, burned and banned. We cannot imagine, rediscover or remember them. MISSING IMAGES summons a few of them. Between the fragments, an idea timidly emerges: while flipping the page and changing the side of the vinyl record, with each click of the slide projector and in the echo of the music box. By merging a slide show of Dia Positive photographs shot on a trip to the city of Abadan in 2005 with video excerpts, sonic bits, and a reading, this lecture performance raises questions about the atrocious fire attack on Cinema Rex in Iran 1978. What elements are required for the construction of a collective memory of this violent event?
