Nocturnes
In the dense, rain-soaked forests of the Eastern Himalayas, night has fallen. Mansi and her assistant Bicki have set up canvases and lights, waiting for the moths. Only during the ten nights of the new moon can they photograph and measure the moth species vital to Mansi’s research. Anirban Dutta and Anupama Srinivasan weave stunning images of the vast, misty forest with an artistic soundscape to create an immersive experience. We are drawn into the forest’s temporality, as the detailed focus reveals the complexity of the millennia-old interconnections of fragile biodiversity in flora and fauna. (Sita Scherer)
