CN: Thematization of violence and suicide
They are women, they are prisoners, and they are mothers. The women in the Chilean prison must give up their children once they reach the age of two. Afterward, sons and daughters go to relatives or to a children's home. Attempts to maintain contact often fail due to interference from family members. Since recording devices are prohibited in prison, MALQUERIDAS exclusively shows footage shot by the protagonists on their mobile phones – accompanied by a voice-over narrative that weaves the experiences of many women into a collective story.
