CN: Thematization of violence
Not all bodies are the same – and by no means do all bodies receive the same protection in their vulnerability. This ends fatally in the case of two-year-old Marva, who is shot dead during a police operation that can be classified as part of the state's migration policy. One of the many cases in which “justice within the normal legal confines couldn't happen”, as Belgian director Robin Vanbesien emphasizes. The trial surrounding Marva’s death forms the starting point for the film essay HOLD ON TO HER, in which Vanbesien seeks to collectively re-enact what happened through a performative approach.
