Farahnaz Sharifi, the director and narrator of MY STOLEN PLANET, was born just three weeks after the Islamic Revolution. Her personal story is closely linked to the broader history of women in Iran, reflecting the feminist slogan, "the personal is political." Using a diverse range of archival material – from personal photographs and videos to 8mm footage of women in their domestic spaces and recordings of street protests – Sharifi connects her narrative to the stories of many women within and outside Iran. As uprisings once again affect many women's lives in 2022, Sharifi’s work evolves from a collection of memories and archives into a living testament. (Senem Aytaç)
