REAS
CN: Thematization of violence
In a crumbling prison in Buenos Aires, once one of the torture centers of Argentina's military dictatorship, Yoseli sings about her dream of traveling. She dances with fellow inmates and flirts with Nacho, a trans man who started a rock band in prison. In REAS, Lola Arias stages life within the prison walls with former inmates, based on their real experiences. In the reenactment, boundaries between theater, musical, fiction, and documentary blur. Through music and dance styles like voguing, the protagonists reclaim the freedom of their bodies. (Sita Scherer)
