Every time in the evening that eyelids close, for an instant, fear of what one might dream takes over. Memories fade away. We stumble through the dreams of others, like a vagabond, detached from time, space, and reason. We drift away, lose ourselves, and discover places and substances. A midnight program inviting us to submerge ourselves in environments, escape depression and insomnia, and synchronize our pulse with the films' heartbeat. It is a narrow path we follow, gently and lethargically, between dozing off and waking up. (Matti Ullrich)
The visual shows the alternation of the shots of fireworks filmed at a summer festival in Japan, producing a distinctive yet organic rhythm, as well as a gap in time between the visual and sound, both of which are produced by the photographic images on the 16mm filmstrip.
