Two hikers come across a hypnotic-looking water pit in a dry desert. The water pit is now the trigger for an all-encompassing conflict: Should they settle down or keep wandering? What follows is an emotional as well as physical separation of the two initially inseparable wanderers. A magical border fence of moving sticks has opened up overnight and one of the hikers wakes up lonely in the morning. On a rousing search for his partners along the newly drawn border, he encounters a new comrade-in-arms, or perhaps more likely an adversary? In the end he meets his lost partner and instead of a warm reunion he is given an ultimatum. It turns out that his partner is the border-guard.
