CN: The Film works with light effects that can trigger photosensitive people
I’M NOT EVERYTHING I WANT TO BE traces the life of Czech photographer Libuše Jarcovjáková through her photographs. Accompanied by excerpts from her diaries, recurring stations of her life are woven together. Prague, Tokyo, Berlin – historical turning points juxtaposed with moments on the margins. As the subject of her own images, the film becomes an honest autofiction reflecting her personal, queer world. The art world celebrates Jarcovjáková as “Nan Goldin of the East”. The film is a radically subjective artist’s portrait that builds to a stroboscopic staccato, mirroring her energetic pursuit of a self-determined life. (Stefanie Gaus)
