World of Mine

(BALi, KulturBahnhof Kassel)

Recommended for ages 14 and up
In this program, the filmmakers present us their world, showing themselves and their surrounding. Whilst reflecting about identity we often question this world of ours, we ask ourselves where our home is and where we belong to. However, do we really need to find “our” place somewhere? And does this place need to be a fixed one, or only the one where we are settled at the moment? Maybe the world of mine can also be found in the past, in the future or in the digital space? L'Armari Vivent (The Living Wardrobe)

The clothes that are given to us by our partner are special objects full of emotions, they accompany and sometimes stick to us. The same happens to Martí, whose stay in Bilbao is only temporary and was planned without any emotional attachment. In the big wardrobe in his room, the few clothes he brought with him seem quite lonely – this changes, when he meets someone. The wardrobe gradually begins to fill up till he can no longer ignore that this relationship plays an important role in his life. Intimacy, love and identity mingle in the darkness of his wardrobe.

Home Is Where the Star Fruits Taste Sour

There are many unspoken things in Huy’s family. Why does nobody talk about how the migration of his parents influenced the different generations? Why is it so hard to communicate? Why is the relationship between parents and children so complicated? Is there even a shared family history? And what about his own identity? In search of answers, he visits his grandparents in Vietnam and films their everyday life, their shared meals and conversations. While establishing a close relationship to them, he also tries to get closer to his parents.

A unique slideshow, documenting two long-haired trans men falling madly in love. Over the course of one year, the artist couple Samira Elagoz & Z Walsh gathered photographs from real-life events such as their first kiss, meeting each other's parents, long-distance thirst traps, a beach wedding, top surgery, and its subsequent recovery. A sweet and steamy celebration of T4T love with life and art all tangled up.
